From the Sanskrit Om (AUM), the sacred syllable in its written form. It is the vital vibration that fills the universe and according to the Upanishads represents the Divine and the power of God. A sonorous symbol of the ultimate Reality, its three letters A, U and M represent, respectively, the states of external, internal and superconscious consciousness, as well as the three states of man, (awake, sleep and deep sleep), the three parts of the day (morning, afternoon, evening, night) and the three capacities (to act, to know, to desire). Beyond is the formless state of the Self, according to Advaita Vedanta. It is considered enduring and inexhaustible and is interpreted, in part, as a representative expression of the creative spirit, the word.

God and Avatar are the same thing and at the same time they are different. The Avatar comes from God and has the power and light of God. But we can differentiate them because the Avatar has a human body while God has no form and at the same time has all of them. Each Avatar is a manifestation of a part of the Divinity of the Paramatman. Mother Meera, Answers I , Germany: Dornburg-Talheim, 1991

Each one of you is an Avatar. You are DIVINITY, encased as I am in human flesh and bones. Krishna Murty, Tumuluru, Digest Collection of Sathya Sai Baba’s sayings, Italy: Fondazione Sathya Sai Sai Seva Roveredo, 1985.

Avatar : «From Sanskrit, avatara, descent. In the Hindu religion, terrestrial incarnation of some deity, especially Vishnu. Reincarnation, transformation. Change, phase, vicissitude». Dictionary of the Royal Spanish Academy.

Avatar in the Hindu mythological tradition refers to the reincarnation of God. Literally Avatar means descent and implies the descent of God on earth in human form. In the Hindu religion the concept of avatar is associated with Lord Vishnu, who is one of the three main Gods in the Hindu Trinity. Sharma, Amrita. Dictionary of Religions, New Delhi: Sterling Publishers, 1999.

Avatar is a Hindu concept that comes from the Sanskrit avatara and means the descent of the deity on earth. This concept is peculiarly associated with the tradition of worship and veneration of the most important deity for them which is Vishnu. Hinnells, John. The Penguin Dictionary Of Religions, England: Penguin Books, 1984.

Avatar : «divine descent»; the descent of God on earth in a tangible form. He adds that sometimes this phrase is translated as: the divine incarnation, terms which should be accepted as referring to the supreme Lord appearing in this physical world in his own eternal form outside his own conceivable prerogative. Which implies that the words descend or incarnation must be in the concept of Avatar. Grimes John A Concise Dictionary Of Indian Philosophy, USA: State University of New York Press, 1996.
